“Anti-Nazi Resistance Movements in Europe”
In this activity, students research anti-Nazi resistance movements in European countries and then present their findings.
In the novel, the Edelweiss Pirates are an example of an anti-Nazi resistance movement in Germany. As the Nazis invaded countries throughout Europe, more resistance movements began to form, many of which were underground and kept secret.
In this activity, you will research a resistance movement in a country that was invaded by Nazi Germany. Use the following questions below to guide your research.
After researching, present your findings to the class.
Teaching Suggestion: This activity encourages students to use their research skills and work in small groups. Each group should select a different country and group, if possible. You might start them off with a list of countries that had resistance movements: Belgium, Denmark, France, Greece, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Ukraine.
